Marlow Cricket Club hosted five teams from the area in their first women’s softball cricket festival.
Held on July 21, women and girls from Chalfont St Peter, Maidenhead & Bray, High Wycombe and Penn & Tylers joined the home team for a round-robin event.
Primarily focused on participation, the teams and supporters enjoyed some great games: lots of excellent batting, good bowling and strong fielding.
Excitingly, the competition element came down to the very last over of the day with Chalfont St Peter narrowly winning, narrowly defeating runners-up Marlow by seven runs.
The festival was enabled by Marlow Cricket Club and a grant from Bucks Cricket for softball festivals that are happening across the region this Summer.
Softball cricket is a fun accessible form of the game, ideal for beginners and experienced players alike.
On top of the play, a raffle with some amazing prizes from local businesses in Marlow was held to raise money for the Take Her Lead charity, dedicated to enabling women and girls to take part in cricket at all levels.
