Plans to create an outdoor drinking area at the butcher shop and grill of a renowned TV chef have been met with concerns about ‘noisy’ revellers impacting a neighbour.
Greene King Retailing Limited has applied to Bucks Council for a variation of the premises licence for The Butcher’s Tap and Grill, on Spittal Street, in Marlow.
Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge is the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) for the traditional butcher shop and grill restaurant, which also has a licence for alcohol sales ‘on and off the premises’.

The application seeks to ‘change the layout of the premises to include the licensing of an existing external area for the sale of alcohol that will cease sales at 10.30pm, daily’.
‘Opening hours and licensable activities will remain otherwise unaltered’, according to council documents.
One objection was received during a 28-day consultation, concerning the “prevention of public nuisance”, and “noise pollution”.

“My house and garden run adjacent to this area of land,” they wrote. “As most people know, alcohol is usually accompanied with loud banter and often swearing.
“This…will be audible in both my garden and living area until late into the evening. This will definitely have an impact on my health and wellbeing.
“I was never consulted about this application, I only found out about it from a friend.”
They added: “Being that The Butcher’s Tap and Grill is now a takeaway, a litter problem on my narrow road is now much more of a problem.”
The matter is due for debate during a licensing sub-committee hearing, on July 8.
