JOSH Brown is 18-years-old. But he must look older than his years as for the third time in six months he has been cast as a man in his 30s or 40s. The teenager talks about playing an older man in his upcoming role in Trivial Pursuits for Fourways.

Fourways' latest production is based on a amateur dramatics group, which makes interesting viewing as one am dram group plays another.

Brown, from Booker, said: "It is really funny. It is about a amateur dramatics group who are trying to decide their next show and obviously we are a am dram group. We have been there.

"There are about six or seven characters and they are all trying to blackmail the director to get their choice of show. They are blackmailing me."

Brown is playing the director, who is 35-years-old. This follows Fourway's last production, The Crucible, in which he played a 40-year-old and precedes his next role as a dad in Wycombe Swan Youth Theatre's spring production of Our House.

He said: "It is good to play older characters.

"The other guys in the cast- they are a lot older and have done a lot more shows. I have to act as if I have done more than them."

The farce is written by Welsh playwright Frank Vickery Brown added: "My character gets progressively more grumpy as the show goes on so I decided to base him on my brother, Oliver, who is really grumpy. He is 24 and he acts as if he is about 60 or 70. He is so laid backed and chilled but he gets really grumpy at some points.

"It is quite funny."

He has been with Fourways for nearly a year and is readying for Our House, while he is auditioning for drama school.

He said: "Acting is what I want to do. I am happy performing anything though. Anything so I can entertain."

And he said Fourways is great group to work with. He said: "As a amateur group goes they put on a really professional performance. There is no bitchiness. You get really close to people because there is no backstabbing, which can be common in amateur groups. We have a really good production team too."

Fourways is at the Wycombe Swan from February 2-4 at 8pm. Tickets are £12. Call 01494512000 or go to www.wycombeswan.co.uk to book.
