1. LIGHT up a life with Mary Berry tonight at a South Bucks Hospice event. Join in for a special service and light switch on to remember lost loved ones. The special service will be from 4.30pm with a period of silent reflection and at the service you will be invited to light a candle in memory of your loved one. After the special service, at 6pm, they will be holding a festive light switch on in the hospice garden with Mary Berry and invite you into the warmth of the hospice afterwards for hot chocolate, mince pies and carol singing from Royal Grammer School Boys Choir. 2. THERE is a Christmas Family Fun Day tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am at E.J.Churchill Shooting Ground, Park Lane in Lane End. Have a go at clay shooting on one of the 'have a go' stands or for the more experienced shot, enter the pool shoot, shooting challenges and 50 English Sporting and you might even win a Christmas turkey from Copas for the table. There’ll be entertainment, arts and crafts for the kids and Father Christmas may pop in for a mince pie. 3. ENJOY some Christmas rapping with the Big Friendly Poet. For 5+ years: be inspired to write some Roald Dahl-themed Christmas poetry in this splendiferous session with Paul Lyalls, our Big Friendly Poet in Residence. Then create a Christmas cracker that reveals your rhyme, or some Christmas wrapping decorated with your 'rapping'. It is £3 per participant in addition to Museum entry. Call 01494 892192 to book. 4. THE GreenAcres Woodland Burials - Chiltern is holding its annual Christmas service on Sunday at 11am and 1pm and its carol service will be held at 3pm. Each service at Potkiln Lane in Jordans, Beaconsfield will include readings and music with mulled wine and mince pies being served. Father Christmas will be at the park throughout the day to greet the children, offering them a Christmas gift before the service begins. All proceeds from the day will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Motor Neurone Disease Association. It is just £5 per ticket to attend, with children under two welcome for free. 5. THERE are lots of carol services and Christingles being held this weekend at churches across south Bucks. Many services hold refreshments afterwards with mince pies and mulled wine and the chance to meet people from your community.
