Wycombe Wanderers made it nine consecutive victories in all competitions for the first time as a Football League club as tthey secured a 3-2 win away at Lincoln City.

The Chairboys, who went into the match at Sincil Bank with a two-point lead at the top of the League One table, found themselves behind thanks to a brilliant finish from Tendayi Darikwa.

The ex-Burnley man got on the end of a Ben House cross as his clever volley from close-range beat Franco Ravizzoli at the left-hand post.

But Wycombe were not behind for long as they equalised through Richard Kone.

Just 48 hours after signing a new contract with the Chairboys, a Cameron Humphreys long ball was brilliantly controlled by the Ivorian.

He then took a touch and buried it beyond George Wickens to put Wycombe level with his 11th of the season, and his sixth in eight games.

Both sides enjoyed large portions of possession but Matt Bloomfield’s side had that quality that Lincoln, on times, lacked.

And this was evident in the goal Wycombe scored to take the lead.

A move of around 10 passes was finished off by Fred Onyedimna just before half-time, as the Chairboys went ahead in some fashion.

The pass-and-move nature of the strike will be one for neutrals to admire.

The goal was the Nigerian’s fifth in his last eight outings.

In the second period, Lincoln came out of the traps and put Wycombe under the cosh with Ravizzoli being on hand to make two brilliant stops.

The first was to thwart goalscorer Darikwa, whilst House also went close.

But the host’s best chance of the contest in the latter 45 came from Dylan Duffy, as he smashed the crossbar from range.

Down the other end, Wycombe had a glorious chance to make it three when Onyedinma was fouled in the box, but Luke Leahy missed the result spot-kick, as Wickens produced a good save.

But this didn’t deter the Chairboys as they got their third moments later through a Joe Low header – his second goal in as many league games.

Leahy and Garath McCleary went close to wrapping up the win but failed to convert, before Darikwa fired home his second to give Lincoln hope in the final five minutes.

This made the latter embers of the contest incredibly nervy from a Chairboys perspective, but Wycombe held on to secure their 11th league win of the season.

Additionally, it was their ninth consecutive victory in all competitions – the first time the club have achieved such a feat since 1992.

The result also means Wycombe have now scored in 21 of their 22 games this campaign.

Finally, i was the Chairboys' first win at Lincoln in nearly 15 years.

They remain top on of League One on 35 points, four points clear of second-place Wrexham with a game in hand.

Up next is Mansfield Town at home on November 26.
