Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield believes tonight’s visit to Burton Albion will be a ‘tough one’ despite the latter’s poor start to the season.
The Brewers are the only side in League One to not win a game so far this campaign, losing six of their opening 10 matches.
They have picked up just for points from a possible 30, losing their last five games.
Despite this, the Staffordshire-based team are unbeaten in their previous three encounters with the Chairboys, earning two draws and one win.
Wanderers’ last victory at the Pirelli Stadium was on the final day of the 2021/22 season, as a 2-1 win for Wycombe secured the club in that year’s play-offs.
Sam Vokes and Jordan Obita were the scorers for the Chairboys that day.
Bloomfield said ahead of the clash on Tuesday evening, “There has been a lot of change at Burton.
“They have signed a good number of players this summer and I know Robbo [Burton manager, Mark Robinson].
“He is a really good guy, and he has a real way in how he wants them to play.
“We’ll study them and make sure that we are ready.
“We want to get the energy in our boys because in the game against Peterborough, we pressed quite high so it would have taken a bit of energy out of us.
“We need to take a team that is ready to go to Burton as it will be a tough one.”
Both matches last season ended in draws – the first time that the points had been shared in this fixture.
The first encounter was in August 2023 which finished 0-0 at Adams Park, before both sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Pirelli in January.
Bez Lubala scored Burton’s opener before Sam Vokes equalised.
Lubala would then join the Chairboys three weeks later.
