Despite scoring the winner in Wycombe Wanderers’ recent 1-0 victory over Crawley Town, winger Fred Onyedinma has admitted the team ‘will be keeping their heads down’ to ‘try and get better’.

The Chairboys have had a brilliant start to the League One season, winning five of their opening nine league games, drawing twice.

The club are also unbeaten in their last seven in the division, following the two 3-2 defeats against Birmingham City and Wrexham.

Wanderers’ rise has seen boss Matt Bloomfield receive a Manager of the Month nomination, with Wycombe currently sitting in the play-off places.

But Onyedinma admitted that the team ‘will not take anything for granted’ as the season continues to take shape.

Speaking to the club, the Nigerian said: “I’m delighted for the boys as you can see what the gaffer and Dan [Rice, the chairman] are trying to do, so hopefully it’s onwards and upwards.

“These are good signs but we know there is still work we have to do.

"With the mentality that the manager and the boys have, we are not going to take anything for granted.

“We want to keep our heads down and try and be better."

Following the postponement of this week’s match against Stockport County, Wycombe will next face Peterborough United at home on October 19.

The match will kick-off at 12.30pm.
