Blackpool striker Ashley Fletcher has been given a three-game ban after he struck out at Wycombe Wanderers’ Dan Harvie.

During the 2-2 draw between the two sides on August 31 at Bloomfield Road, stills from the match showed that the ex-Manchester United and West Ham United hit the Scotsman around the head.

This was missed by matchday referee Darren Drysdale.

However, five days after the match took place, the FA confirmed that Fletcher will serve a suspension.

In a brief statement, they said: “Blackpool’s Ashley Fletcher has been given a three-match suspension for misconduct in their EFL League One match against Wycombe Wanderers.

“He admitted that his behaviour around the 32nd minute constitutes as violent conduct, and he also accepted the automatic penalty.”

Fletcher, who only joined the Tangerines this summer following a forgettable spell at Watford, will miss the club’s fixtures against Exeter City, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic respectively.

His swing of the arm at Harvie occurred in the build-up to Blackpool’s equaliser against Wycombe.

Garath McCleary had given Wanderers the lead in the 11th minute, but Kyle Joseph levelled just moments after the incident had taken place.

The Chairboys thought that had won it when Dan Udoh bagged his first league goal since his move from Shrewsbury Town, but with six minutes remaining, Jake Beesly equalised.
