A popular golf centre in High Wycombe has appointed a new general manager – who says he’s ‘excited’ to get to work ‘contributing to the local community’.
Mark Woods, who has worked in leisure management for over 15 years, took up the mantle of general manager at Wycombe Heights on Rayners Avenue in Loudwater at the end of August.
The industry pro is reportedly hoping to prioritise sustainability during his tenure – as well as working with and for both casual golfers and “the competitive players at the core of our membership”.
Golf club chain Burhill Group Limited (BGL), which operates Wycombe Heights, has also shifted its focus towards eco-friendly initiatives in recent years, and plans already laid out for the site include energy consumption reviews, new wildlife feeding boxes and a reservoir irrigation system to ensure “responsible water use”.
Recent investment also saw new tee boxes installed on the centre’s 18-hole short course, bunker renovations and a refurbishment of the clubhouse décor.
Woods has pledged to continue and expand on such practical and progressive schemes – with more plans to “conserve resources and foster nature “in the works.
He said: “My long-term goal is to continue improving our standards both on and off the course at Wycombe Heights. I will strive to embrace the group-wide sustainability commitment at BGL to ensure we can contribute positively to the local community.”
