Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has revealed that the club is ‘down to the bare bones’ and that they plan to bring in ‘a couple more faces’ before Transfer Deadline Day.

The Chairboys were without seven first-team players going into the recent 2-0 victory against Rotherham United on August 24, and the missing personnel could be out ‘for a little while’.

Notable absentees included first-choice goalkeeper Nathan Bishop, centre back Ryan Tafazolli, utility player David Wheeler, midfielder Luke Leahy, and strikers Sam Vokes, Bez Lubala and Brandon Hanlan.

The latter hasn’t featured since rupturing his ACL last November.

Captain Jack Grimmer also went off injured in the win over the Millers, and Bloomfield believes the right-back has sustain a ‘muscle injury’.

He said: “It’s a muscle injury so it’s one of the first we need to look at.

“During the week [against Wimbledon], we rested some whilst the others have picked up freak football ones [injuries].

“We’ve lost Luke, Bish, Taff and Vokesy, so we need to protect them.

“We’re still waiting to see how long but they will be out for a little while and with Voksey, we had to pull him out late on Friday afternoon.

“It's not ideal and we’re down to the bare bones but we’re pleased with the business we have done.”

On making some more signings ahead of this week’s transfer deadline, Bloomfield said: “We need to as with the games coming up, the injuries we’re carrying, we’ve been in constant dialogue with Dan [Rice] about what we and the club want to do so we’re hoping for a couple more faces this week.”

The victory over Rotherham saw the Chairboys introduce three news faces in the squad, which included Cameron Humphreys [who scored in the win], Aaron Morley and Gideon Kouda.

The trio have signed for Wycombe from Ipswich Town, Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United respectively.
