Wycombe Wanderers manager has told his players that they ‘need to control the controllables’ following the recent 2-1 home defeat to bottom-of-the-table Reading.

The shock loss against their Thames Valley neighbours stretched the Chairboys’ winless run in League One to six games, whilst the Royals ended their unwanted record of not winning on the road in the league for 12 months.

It was also their point on the road since April, after losing their last eight games away from home.

Bloomfield said: “I don’t like losing, I hate losing so I was so disappointed in the way we conceded the goals along with the quality of our play.

“There were several elements I wasn’t happy with.

“We need to control the controllables such as the passing, the tackling, the loose balls, the headers, the second balls, all of that.

“They don’t seem that important but they are vital to winning games, and going forward, we need to be a lot better than what we were today [November 25].”

Bloomfield also mentioned how injuries and players being played out of position have made things ‘tough’ for the Chairboys, but insisted that the performance against the Royals was ‘poor’.

He added: “We’ve got nine or 10 players out injured, we’ve just welcomed a few back into the team.

“We’re hoping to have a few come back and we know we’re playing one or two in different positions and it’s tough.

“However, we needed to be a lot better than what we were today as we were poor.”

After Tuesday's match against Barnsley on November 28, Wanderers will face Morecambe in the FA Cup at Adams Park.
