Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has sent his well wishes to ex-Bristol Rovers boss, Joey Barton.

The former Manchester City, Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers man was relieved of his duties on October 26 after nearly three years in charge.

It comes after the Gas have won just four of their 13 league games this season, which has seen them lie 16th in the League One table, five points above the relegation zone.

He departs the Memorial Stadium side with a relegation and promotion on his CV during his time in the West County.

Speaking on his exit, Bloomfield said: “I hate seeing managers go through tough spells and lose their jobs.

“When you step into that job as a manager, you have a lot more empathy for those who go through those tough situations.

“It’s never nice to see but we know about the gig before we get into it as he’s a part of the job.

“Joey’s done a great job at Bristol Rovers as he got them promoted and I know him personally and he’s a good guy."

“I’m sure he’ll bounce back.”
