Wycombe Wanderers’ recorded their third victory in a row without conceding as they defeated Crystal Palace U21s 1-0 at Adams Park in the EFL Trophy.
The visitors looked lively in the opening stages as Franco Ravizolli was kept busy.
The Wanderers debutant from Argentina was on hand to deny David Ozoh’s close-range header, before he got down low to block a Franco Umeh-Chibueze shot.

He was left stranded when a Roshaun Mathurin cross deflected off Chris Forino, but the delivery hit the post and Wycombe’s blushes were spared.
The Chairboys grew as the game went on as Tjay De Barr and Dale Taylor looked the most lively.
The Gibraltarian went close on two occasions before the Northern Irishman had three chances two.

His first attempt on 38 minutes flashed wide before he was denied expertly by Joe Whitworth seconds later.
The on-loan Forest man continued to be a thorn in the young Eagles’ nest as his snapshot on the stroke of halftime flew inches past the target.
Wycombe finished off the half the better and were unlucky to not be ahead.
They continued their attack presence in the second period as they had ample chances to take the lead.

Kieran Sadlier on his Chairboys debut was denied by Whitworth, De Barr hit the post, whilst substitutes in Joe Low, Sam Vokes and Luke Leahy also went close.
And in the final minute, Leahy’s cross was handled in the box.
The ex-Shrewsbury man took the spot kick which was saved by Whitworth, before it was retaken.
This was due to the keeper coming off his line along with several encroachments.

The summer signing retook the penalty and buried it into the bottom left-hand corner to register his first Wycombe goal.

It’s Wanderers’ first win in the competition since November 2019 (a 2-1 victory at MK), and their first at Adams Park since September 2018, when they beat the Fulham U21s by the same scoreline.
Up next for the Chairboys is an away trip to Charlton Athletic on Saturday, before they end the month at home to newly-promoted Carlisle United.
Their next game in the EFL Trophy will be away at Stevenage on October 10.
