Wycombe Wanderers will hope to do something they have not done in their history this weekend and that's to beat Charlton Athletic at home for the second consecutive season.
The Chairboys travel to the capital four points off the play-offs whilst their opponents are 12 points off the top six with nine games left to play.
Wanderers have got history at the Valley (anyone remember 2006?) but the Addicks don’t want to spend a fourth straight year in the third tier of English football.
So here is everything you know for Charlton Athletic vs Wycombe Wanderers this weekend.
Current Form and Background on Charlton Athletic
If you told a Charlton fan back in May 2007 when they were relegated from the Premier League that they still would not have returned to the top-flight by 2023, everyone would have laughed.
The Addicks were a well-situated club in England’s elite during the early 2000s.
They even finished as high as seventh back in 2004.
This was their highest position since finishing runners-up in the old first division back in 1937.
However, the club have since bounced between the Championship and League One over the last 16 years, and if they fail to gain promotion to the second tier this season, the 2023/24 campaign will be their fourth year at this level.
That would be the longest they would have stayed in the third tier.
However, things are looking bright for Charlton.
Since Dean Holden took over in December, he has won seven of his 17 games in charge and has moved the South East London side from near the relegation zone to just outside the top six.
This resurgence includes winning two of the last three games, picking up seven points.
Current Form and Background on Wanderers
Matt Bloomfield has now been in charge of the Chairboys for a little over a month and it’s fair to say that there are lots of promising signs.
In his six matches, Wycombe have mustered up nearly 100 shots on goal and have picked up seven points from 18 available.
And last week’s 1-0 loss at home to an in-form Barnsley, in which Wanderers were the better team, proved that the Adams Park club are slowly but surely getting to grips with what the former captain wants.
