Ex-Wycombe Wanderers defender Alfie Mawson has revealed who he feels is the best player he played alongside with during his time at the club.
The 29-year-old, who featured 71 times for the Chairboys across two spells, retired from the game on February 14 this year after a lengthy battle with persistent knee injuries.
💙 Not just a wonderful talent on the pitch, but an incredible character off it too.

He said: “Josh Scowen.
“I could have said loads of players from my first spell”, referring to the 2014/15 season where the Chairboys agonisingly missed out, through penalties, on promotion to League One on against Southend United in the play-off final.

"But it'll be Josh.
“He’s a joy to be around and play with.
"I’m not saying this because he’s my mate, but he stands out for me during my time here.
“I have a lot of time for Scowey, I love him to bits but as a player, I don’t think Wycombe realise how lucky they were to get him.
“They do now.”

Mawson and Scowen were teammates during their first spells for Wycombe, whilst also playing together at Barnsley during the 2015/16 campaign.
During their time in Yorkshire, the duo were part of a promotion-winning team to the Championship.
They also won the Football League Trophy.
Scowen returned to Adams Park in the summer of 2021 after signing a two-year contract from Sunderland and has been outstanding so far this season for the Chairboys.

He will be hoping that he can help Wycombe secure three points at Charlton Athletic this weekend with the Chairboys currently sitting four points off the League One play-off places.
On Mawson, the centre-back enjoyed a well-travelled career that took him from the National League South with Welling United, to featuring in every single Premier League fixture for Swansea in the 2017/18 season.
