Wycombe boss Matt Bloomfield spoke highly of the performances of Tjay De Barr and Brandon Hanlan in the Chairboys’ 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers.
It was the first time that the two attackers started together for the club since both signing in August 2021, with De Barr assisting Hanlan for the opening goal on 16 minutes.

The two then continued to cause numerous issues for the Rovers defence before Chem Campbell settled the game in the second-half with his second of the season.

The duo’s pairing was due to Sam Vokes missing the match at the Memorial Stadium through injury, but with the twosome’s display earning them many plaudits across the Wanderers fanbase, the strikers could potentially start again this weekend against Barnsley.
Speaking to the press at full-time, Bloomfield said: “Brandon is a guy that I have a lot of respect for as he works so hard on improving his game.
“He is so focused on learning and he took his opportunity tonight with Sam Vokes being absent and his goal was well taken.
“He took on their defenders and he put himself about and on top of Tjay’s work rate, it was a good evening for the two of them.”
On De Barr, which was only his third-ever competitive start for Wycombe, the manager added: “He did very well.
“He has been chomping at the bit so when I came back, I was given reports on how he has been training and he’s been waiting for his opportunity.

“Tjay grabbed his chance with both hands and he was very good in and out of attack - a regular goal threat.
“He is a guy that lives his whole life through energy and enthusiasm and that’s how he plays.
“We are not going to take that away from him but we do need to harness it at times.
“He is a great kid and he puts a lot of effort into how he plays.
“When he got his yellow card we saw him lose a bit of energy so that’s why we decided to make the change.”
Up next for Wycombe is Barnsley at home this Saturday.
