Wycombe boss Matt Bloomfield has described his first win as the club’s manager as ‘amazing’, following Wanderers’ 2-0 victory over Fleetwood Town on March 7.
An early Chris Forino header along with a well-taken Sam Vokes goal confirmed the three points for the Chairboys as they remain in seventh place, just four points off the top six.
It ended a run of two matches without a win, and despite losing several key first-team players, the manager thanked his squad for their ‘togetherness and organisation’ when taking on Scott Brown’s side.

He told the press: “It feels amazing.
“I’m so proud to be the manager of this football club and to get the first win genuinely means the world to me.
“I had to thank the boys afterwards but it’s not about me, it’s the way they performed and I thought they were excellent in the way they took the game plan and put it into action.
“We learnt a lot from Saturday and we went over what we wanted to do in training and in the meeting room yesterday, and the way the boys took it on the pitch along with the endeavour, the effort and the togetherness along with the organisation shows how good they were tonight.
“I’m so pleased.

“It means the world to me to be here and do this job, and I want to do the best I possibly can.
“That winning feeling is amazing but we need to put this to bed as we have another big game on Saturday.”
😃 Absolutely everyone associated with Wycombe is delighted for this man tonight.

On the match, which saw Wanderers register 22 shots, more than double what they achieved against Exeter three days prior, Bloomfield added: “We could have been more ahead in the opening 20-25 minutes as our performance deserved more just the one goal.
“But even then, Fleetwood were passing it around and they are a decent team.

“They had a foothold in the game at one point so we had to show our organisation and structure regarding our defensive shape which I thought we did.
“But I always thought we carried that attacking threat as Garath McCleary, Brandon Hanlan and Sam Vokes all went close, but Sam got his goal and what a good goal it was too.”
