Matt Bloomfield has reflected on Wycombe’s 1-1 draw with Exeter.

Wanderers took the lead inside two minutes thanks to a well-taken goal from Chem Campbell, which was his first for the club.

But with 21 minutes remaining, Kevin McDonald, who has played Premier League football for Burnley and Fulham, popped up with the equaliser to share the spoils.

It wasn’t the win that the 39-year-old was hoping for in his first match in charge of the Chairboys at Adams Park, but with Wycombe having several chances during the fixture, he hopes his players will be able to take their opportunities going forward.

Speaking to the press at full-time, he said: “It was great to get ahead so early in the game and we had plenty of chances after that to increase our lead.

“Garath [McCleary] hit the post, he pulled one back to Vokesy but he hits one over the bar and we had a really strong goal threat during the game.

“It’s a shame that we couldn’t get a second to add to our total, but there is plenty to work on and we know that we want to keep improving and keep moving forward.

“There was a lot for us to be pleased about today, and I chose a team that wanted to nullify Exeter’s strengths as much as possible.

“The chances we created were a huge positive, especially in the second-half with Sam Vokes, Nick Freeman, and Brandon Hanlan.

“I thought we had the threat all afternoon but there are bits that we want to improve on, so there are plenty of positives.”

The result means Wycombe remain in seventh place but move onto 54 points for the season.

They are currently six points off the play-offs and take on Fleetwood Town on Tuesday evening at Adams Park.
