Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Josh Scowen has reflected on the Chairboys’ 2-0 victory over League One strugglers Accrington Stanley.
The 29-year-old smashed home his second of the campaign to put the Adams Park side a goal up at the Wham Stadium, before Garath McCleary secured the victory in injury time.
Speaking on his strike, which was struck home from 25-yards on the half-volley, Scowen said: “I caught it really nicely because I had to line it up when it fell to me.
⚽️ New recruits @J2Willis and Chem Campbell started the move, @B_Hanlan and Jason McCarthy developed it, and @Jscowen6 finished it off in style!

“Normally when I shoot, it flies over the bar but thankfully, this one managed to find its way into the corner.
“I used to only scored tap ins!
"But it’s always nice to score no matter how they come.”
It was only his third goal for the club since returning to Wycombe in the summer of 2021, with each of those strikes coming from outside the box.

On the defensive display and Jordan Willis’ first start, Scowen added: “Going to a five at the back really worked as it made us more solid in the second half.
“Bring Chris [Forino] on really helped as he is a big presence to have in the centre of defence.

“Changing it really helped us out as it got us the clean sheet.
“And it’s great having Jordan here and I thought he did really well tonight [February 14].

“He hasn’t played for a long time because of injury, but to me, he stepped in and performed like he hadn’t been out for a while.
“He is good on the ball, he’s aggressive and he is a great addition to the squad.”
Scowen and Willis spent two years at Sunderland together between 2019 and 2021.
