Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth has stated that his side have had ‘a lot of time to reflect’ on their recent defeat against Cheltenham Town.
The Chairboys haven’t played a game since falling to a 1-0 away loss against the West Country side on November 19, where they were second-best throughout the contest.
It was the club’s eighth league defeat in 19 league games so far this season, and with the Chairboys not having a fixture last weekend due to being knocked out of the FA Cup, there will be a 15-day gap between Wycombe’s loss at Whaddon Road, to their live home match against Portsmouth.
Gareth Ainsworth to WanderersTV: “It’s been a good time to have a break, mentally and physically. I was disappointed after Cheltenham. We’ve had extra time to go through the video and look at what we didn’t do well enough. We’re enthused coming back in to prepare for Pompey.”

The clash against the former Premier League club will be a first in English football as in-game interviews, pre-game and half-time team talks, along with conversations amaongst teammates will be broadcasted live during the game.
And with the fixture being a big occasion for the Chairboys, Ainsworth hopes Wycombe can improve at Adams Park this weekend.
He said: “We’ve had a lot of time to look back and reflect on the Cheltenham game which has been really important.
Gareth on the ‘Innovation Game’ on Sky Sports: “There’ll be more access than usual and that’s the way it’s going with what fans want to see. We pushed back on some of the requests, but we’re happy to be involved and we’ll be as accommodating as possible. But there’s a job to do.”

“Hopefully we can make amends on what was a really poor display from us, but it will be tough against Portsmouth and after them, we have got a tough run of games and we never do it the easy way.
“As long as we’re near and around the play-offs come the end of January, I think we should have a good second half of the season.”
Wycombe have only beaten Portsmouth four times in 16 attempts, with two of those victories being by 1-0 score lines.
