Wycombe Wanderers legend Adebayo Akinfenwa has reflected on three specific Chairboys moments that he considers to be the ‘highlights’ of his Adams Park career.
The 40-year-old spent six years in Buckinghamshire, scoring 61 goals in 250 appearances in all competitions.
He picked up two promotion medals, achieved two consecutive Player of the Year awards, and played in the Championship for the first time at the age of 38, amongst accomplishing other numerous milestones whilst at Wycombe.
However, the ever-popular forward spoke about three occasions during his time at the club that he admitted will stay with him ‘forever’.
Speaking ahead of the official premiere of his Amazon Prime documentary ‘Beast Mode On’, which was screened at the Wycombe Swan on October 26, he said: “What we were able to achieve as a club and as a community was second to none.
“It will stay with me forever.”
One of the highlights, if not the highlight, would be Wycombe’s promotion to the Championship in 2020.
The Chairboys defeated Oxford United 2-1 at a wet Wembley Stadium to secure their place in the second tier of English football for the first time in their history.

Speaking on the achievement, Akinfenwa said: “There were so many positives and negatives when we got promoted to the Championship.
“The negatives were that we weren’t able to celebrate the win with the fans or family.
“But the positive was that we banded as brothers.
“It was during lockdown; you couldn’t go anywhere, and it was a scary place but everyone was documenting everything.
“So when we watched the montage of the fans celebrating our promotion to the Championship, I kid you not, everyone single one of the boys teared up.

“As a squad, we celebrated together.”
Another fond memory the Big Man spoke about was the incredible 4-3 victory over Carlisle United in February 2018.
In a year that he would help Wycombe to earn promotion to League One after a six-year spell away, the fixture over the Cumbrian side saw the Chairboys go 2-0 up, have a man sent off, miss a penalty, go 3-2 down, level the game in injury-time, before Marcus Bean scored his first strike for Wanderers in his 105th match to win the game with seconds left.
Akinfenwa said: “When Beany scored against Carlisle…that was something special.
“That for me is what Wycombe is all about as it’s that never die attitude, that togetherness, and that underdog tag that people perceived us to be.
“That’s why it meant so much to achieve because sometimes you just need to band together and say, ‘we’re comfortable with what we’re about’.”
Three months later, promotion to League One would be confirmed thanks to a 2-1 away win at Chesterfield with Dominic Gape getting the winning goal.
He concluded: “When Gapey scored against Chesterfield, these are moments I get to see.
“I scored goals…but these are moments that will live with you forever.
“I remember I was on the bench and you look around to see everyone.
"These moments are timeless and that’s why they will live with me forever.”
The documentary, ‘Beast Mode On’ is out today [Friday, October 28].
