Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth has thanked all of the Chairboys fans that made the trip to Stadium MK on October 22.

The fixture saw his side defeat the north Bucks outfit for only the third time in their history in Milton Keynes since their first meeting in 2006.

However, prior to kick-off, numerous Wycombe supporters took to Twitter to express their concerns as many trains in London were delayed.

Some had to take unorthodox routes to Buckinghamshire’s only city, with a number of fans having to pay a three-figure sum for taxi fares.

Speaking on the travelling support, Ainsworth said: “After three straight defeats there was a bit of doom and gloom, but I have always said to stay with us and they did.

“Apparently some spent around £170 for an Uber to get here because the trains let them down.

“Thank you so much as that is commitment.

“That means so much to us because when you found out stuff like that it’s just awesome.

“They out sang the MK fans just like we did in the play-off semi-final all afternoon and they got their rewards.

“Thank you so much.

“I know how hard it is with the cost of living at the moment and they’re paying a couple of hundred to get a taxi to MK to watch their team play and that’s commitment.

“I’ll be letting the boys know.”

The attendance for the fixture was 7,377.
