Wycombe forward Ali Al-Hamadi has spoken about his online following since joining the club.

Since the end of 2021, many football enthusiasts from his native Iraq have taken a keen interest in Wanderers and specifically on his personal performances.

Criticism came of the way at the club when from his countrymen when he wasn’t selected for league fixtures in the previous campaign, but Al-Hamadi laughed it off and admits that he doesn’t take too much notice of the online messages.

The 20-year-old boasts 115,000 followers on Instagram and a further 8,000 on Twitter.

He explained: “It’s a blessing and a curse at the same time!

“It puts a lot of eyes on you and it annoys lots of people too!

“But it’s all good as that is part of it.”

When playing for Iraq, he added: “It’s unbelievable whenever I go away with them.

“They just love football so much and as there are not many players of Iraqi descent in the Football League, so it’s a big deal to the country.

“At one point, Iraq was one of the best footballing countries in Asia, so they there is a huge following for football.

“Sometimes it can bring unnecessary eyes from people but I thrive of that as I don’t really care what the comments say.”

To date, he has played 12 games for the club.
