Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper David Stockdale has thanked Wycombe Wanderers for ‘resurrecting his career’, as he prepares to face the Chairboys for the first time since leaving the club.
The 37-year-old had three separate spells at Adams Park where he became Gareth Ainsworth’s number one shot stopper for the latter stages of the 2020/21 season, and for the entirety of the following campaign.

He was the only Wanderers player to play every second of the club’s league and play-off campaign, where he kept 18 clean sheets in 49 matches, jointly winning that year's Golden Glove award with Plymouth Argyle’s Michael Cooper.
However, after Wycombe’s 2-0 defeat against Sunderland in the League One Play Off final at Wembley Stadium, he turned down a new contract to stay at Adams Park, in order to sign for the Owls.
The move was family-focused, as the transfer meant he would be closer to his loved ones in Leeds.
Speaking to Examiner Live on his time at Wycombe, Stockdale said: “I had ups and downs.
“They helped me resurrect my career so I am always thankful to them.

“If they want to give me something back for what I did, then they can give me a few points on Saturday!"
On the reception he might receive, Stockdale concluded: “It depends because if we go 2-0 up and I start time-wasting, there will be ironic cheers and cheers from the Sheffield Wednesday fans!
"It (the reception) should be good.
“I had a good relationship with their fans.
“I hope they start booing me when we go 2-0 up and I start time-wasting!
“A bit of fun will be had!"
