Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth wants his side ‘to go far’ in this year’s Football League Trophy.
The Chairboys will take on the Tottenham Hotspur Under 21s at Adams Park in the inaugural fixture for this season’s edition.
Last year, Wanderers finished bottom of the group with zero points and conceded 10 goals in their three fixtures against the Aston Villa Under 21s, Milton Keynes and Burton Albion.

Speaking ahead of their fixture against the Lillywhites, Ainsworth said: “I want to go far in this competition and I will be strong on Tuesday.

“I have got a squad of 25 to 26 players who are super strong, then I have got a group of eight or nine players in the development squad that are really coming on.
“Whatever happens, I don’t think it will be a weakened team.
“We’ve got scouts watching their youth and under 23 team so we know what is potentially coming.

“They are a very good side and will have players that will play in the Premier League one day, so we need to be our best and hopefully, we can progress far in this tournament.
“We’ve got a squad that is big enough to take this competition on and I would love to see how far we can get.”
Since reaching the semi-finals of the Football League Trophy in 2017, Wycombe have not progressed past the group stage.
They have four of their last 12 games in the competition.
