An Audi driver who was caught driving at nearly 80mph in a 40mph zone avoided punishment after providing a laundry list of excuses – including that he “needed the facilities.”
At a hearing at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 28 Dalvir Singh Syan pleaded guilty to driving at 79mph in a 40mph in Braywick Road, Maidenhead.
However, Singh Syan, of Cygnet Way in Maidenhead, was “discharged absolutely”, with the court citing “special reasons” to let him off the charge.
The defendant, who was driving an Audi Quattro when he committed the offence, had provided a list of reasons why he was driving so fast that day.
He had told the court that he was on the way home from dropping his dog at doggy daycare when his pregnant wife called him asking him to return home. He also said that he “needed the facilities.”
A note attached to the court listing said: “Special reason, wife pregnant, not very well, had to drop off the dog in daycare, on way back had a call from wife asking him to come home quickly and also needed to use facilities.”
