Aylesbury’s MP has revealed that he supports the council’s decision to not approve HS2 Limited’s request for lorry routes to put in Wendover.
In a letter that was revealed to the public on Tuesday, June 22, Mr Butler, who became the town’s MP in December 2019, stated that ‘continual requests for information from the Highways department have been ignored by HS2 Ltd at every opportunity’.
The approval and construction of HS2 has been met with an overwhelmingly negative response, with numerous residents and activists protesting against the decision.

The letter continues that some of the biggest concerns would be the ‘gridlock’ traffic in Aylesbury if the lorry routes are given the green light.
In his Facebook that was published on the same day he revealed the letter, the MP for Aylesbury said: “I’ve written to the Planning Inspectorate to support Buckinghamshire Council's decision not to approve High Speed Two Limited (HS2 Ltd)'s application for lorry routes in Wendover.
“My team and I have engaged extensively with Buckinghamshire Council on this issue, and my own experience with HS2 leads me to agree with the Council's decision.

“I have raised numerous complaints with the company about their actions locally, and I know that High Speed Two Limited (HS2 Ltd)'s word now holds little stock with the people of Aylesbury and the surrounding villages.
“Our Conservatives council is rightly using its powers to stand up for residents, and I will continue to make sure any proposals by High Speed Two Limited (HS2 Ltd) are scrutinised properly and they provide proper mitigation for the impact on local people.”
