A new café, a noodle bar and a handful of pubs are among the local businesses recently given new food hygiene scores.
The General Havelock pub in High Wycombe received a poor two-out-of-five rating after an inspection last month, while new arrival in Hazlemere Smiffy’s Café walked away from its first examination with a respectable four-out-of-five score.
Meanwhile, town centre stalwarts Grape Expectations in Marlow and Starbucks in Wycombe were given top marks by inspectors, with TikTok star Roland ‘Daddy’ May upping his pub The Russell Arms’ rating to a perfect five after correcting ‘embarrassing’ issues that led to a two-star score last month.
All restaurants and food production centres are subject to surprise visits from council inspectors and are then assigned a score between zero – indicating the need for urgent improvement – and five, a gold medal of honour on the hygiene front.
