THE NHS junior doctors have announced industrial action across England, including in Buckinghamshire.

Junior doctor members of The British Medical Association (BMA) and Hospital Consultants and Specialist Association (HCSA) have decided to take industrial action at NHS trusts across England.

This includes the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

The strike is expected to last from 6.59am Monday March 13 to 6.59am Thursday March 16.

Chief operating officer at Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust Raghuv Bhasin said: "Thanks to the hard work of colleagues we have been able to maintain the majority of services during the strike period.

"Unfortunately to ensure continuity of our emergency services we have had to postpone a small number of planned appointments and we would like to apologise to anyone whose appointment has been postponed.

“We would like to ask for the public’s support during this period of additional pressure by only coming to our Emergency Department for genuine emergencies. If you need medical advice but it’s not urgent, please contact NHS 111 who can provide advice and direct you to the best place for the care you need.”

What to do if you have an appointment

The Trust warned some changes to services will be necessary during and potentially after the strike.

Most services in hospitals, community sites and people’s homes will continue to operate, including all emergency and essential services.

However, some planned outpatient appointments and elective procedures have been postponed.

Some appointments before and after the days of the strike may also be affected, Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust said.

All impacted patients will be contacted directly and rescheduled as soon as possible, the Trust added.
