The tennis fans in a Buckinghamshire village decided to spring to action to help Ukraine.
Chalfont St Peter Tennis Club (CSPTC) members got together at the club to support Ukrainian refugees living in the village, who have escaped the war, which started nearly six months ago after Russia attacked the country.
The tennis club’s charity event raised nearly £1600 for the local Ukrainian hub to support those living in the area.
Nicholas Pugh, Chalfont St Peter Tennis Club committee member, said: “CSPTC would like to thank those that made the evening such a success.

“Firstly, the 70 plus members who attended and gave generously through the raffle, a competitive auction, the buying of food & drink and contributing additional donations whilst also squeezing in a bit of social tennis.
“Secondly, CSPTC would like to express gratitude to the long list of businesses who donated warmheartedly towards the raffle and the auction.”
“Finally, want to applaud all the volunteers who benevolently either baked, cooked, served the bar or cleared up after evening had finished. A special mention has to be made to Annie Viljoen, CSPTC’s social secretary, who coordinated the entire event impeccably.”
