NATHAN Tyson saw Wycombe Wanderers slap a £750,000 price tag on his head and said I'm not worth that.
Blues turned down a £500,000 bid from Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday last weekend a figure which would have risen to £600,000 if Wednesday reached the Premiership during what would have been a four-year contract.
Wednesday wanted to take the 13-goal hitman on loan now and complete the deal in January when the transfer window reopens.
But Wanderers put promotion before cash and have now told clubs to start the bidding at £3/4 million much to Tyson's amazement.
He said: "I'm not worth that. How many houses can you buy for £750,000?
"I thought £250,000 maybe but nothing like this."
But Tyson who is getting married to his long-term partner Elena next year won't let the Monopoly money figures affect him.
He said: "I'm flattered by it, but it is not going to affect me because there is no point in me worrying about something that is not concerete.
"I don't go out there thinking about who might be watching me. I don't even want to know who is there. Nothing can happen until January. There is nothing I can do about it so I don't like to think about it.
"If it all comes to nothing and at the end of the season I am still at Wycombe, I will still be employed and living the dream of being a professional that I've had since I was a kid.
"You can't plan for anything in football. I don't like to think about the future apart from my wedding and what school to send the kids to because those are the things you can plan."
But while Tyson grabs the headlines and the attention of bigger clubs he is quick to share the praise around.
He said: "John Gorman has helped me tremendously. My game has improved a lot under him at Wycombe. Jim Barron the goalkeeping coach has helped me a lot with my shooting because he knows what makes it hard for keepers, Tommy Mooney has helped with my hold-up play and Rob Lee has been helping as well."
