CHARLES Dunne and Josh Scowen are both doubts for Saturday’s trip to Plymouth Argyle after picking up injuries on Boxing Day.
The talented youngsters only made it as far as half time against Cheltenham before being withdrawn, although manager Gareth Ainsworth said Scowen’s withdrawal with a hamstring problem was more precautionary.
Dunne’s possible absence is a bigger worry, with Ainsworth saying the defender did well to stay on until half time after needing stitches in a foot wound picked up by a tough tackle from Cheltenham’s Russell Penn.
But Ainsworth will be able to welcome back experienced midfielder Matt Spring and joint top scorer Matt McClure from suspension for the trip to Devon, and he has his fingers crossed some of his injured senior players will also be back in time.
Dave Winfield, who has captained the side in recent weeks, and key striker Dean Morgan could have both recovered from injury in time to play.
Ainsworth said: “Dave was close [to playing against Cheltenham] and Dean Morgan’s just a couple of days further away.
“We’ll have a couple coming back so there’s positives there.”
