ACTOR Colin Baker came face to face with himself today as a bronze resin bust of the Doctor Who star was revealed.

At the same time a bust of Buckinghamshire County Council chairman, Carl Etholen, was unveiled, which will be placed in the Judges' Lodgings in Aylesbury.

Sculptor Andrew Sinclair made the two works of art at his studios in Wendover.

Colin, who writes a weekly column for the Bucks Free Press, said: "It is remarkable. It feels very odd. You really don't think it is ever going to happen to you, and it has.

"I feel very honoured."

In honour of Colin's time as the sixth Doctor Who between 1983 and 86 there is a Tardis and Cyberman on the bust, which will be placed somewhere in Colin's home in Cadmore End.

He added: "It is much easier for me to look at Carl's and say that is fantastic, than to look at my own.

"You don't, really, know what you look like. It is easier to be totally objective about Carl's- that is stunning- therefore mine is too."

His wife, Marion, was at the reveal who said: "It is brilliant. I think he ought to play Winston Churchill- now I am convinced."

There is a formal reception tonight at the Judges' Lodgings, which will raise money for the MS Centre in Halton, which Andrew supports.

It is hoped Carl's bust will be part of the county's legacy of art down the ages.

Carl said of his sculpture: "It is just unbelievable. It is so life like. "It is almost scary. I saw the clay version when I came for a sitting a week ago.

"For Andrew to get the right wrinkles, the right lines and the crow's feet.

"It is absolutely a work of art. I feel so honoured and humbled."

Both Carl and Colin went in for a sitting and had photos and their measurements taken.

Andrew said: "I love doing portrait sculpture- it is how I started out.

"I wasn't difficult. It is just great fun. There was the usual time pressures- there is never enough time to do these things in.

"I finished yesterday afternoon."

He donated the two busts for free in the hope that he will put figurative sculpture on the map in Bucks.

Andrew said: "Figurative sculpture is on the rise again. It is still sneered upon by the Royal Academy.

"I just really want to promote the skill and craftsmanship in sculpture."

Along with sculptor Diane Coates, they will be curating a major sculpture exhibition called Imaginary Realism next year from April to September at Hatfield House.

The official unveiling of the busts of Colin Baker and Carl Etholen was held on Tuesday evening at the Judges' Lodgings in Aylesbury in front of about 50 community and business leaders.

The event raised £170 for the MS Centre at Halton, which was the nominated charity of the sculptor Andrew Sinclair. Guests donated money by playing a fun interactive game.

The bust of Carl, the chairman of Buckinghamshire County Council, will remain at the Judges' Lodgings where a number of other pieces of historic art works are preserved.

Both Carl and Doctor Who actor Colin were in attendance to unveil each other's bust.
