A POLICE chief says the concrete block which caused the death of a motorcyclist on Sunday was deliberately moved into the road.

Chief Inspector Colin Seaton, Wycombe’s deputy area commander, is urging who ever placed the block into the middle of Daws Hill Lane to hand themselves in.

The 52-year-old High Wycombe rider hit the heavy brick and came off his blue Honda CBR bike near the former RAF Daws Hill base at 6.30am yesterday, police said. He died at the scene.

Ch Insp Seaton said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the man’s family at this time.

"I would like to not only appeal on behalf of the police, but the family and the community, for the person responsible to come forward.”

Insp Paul Winks, head of Thames Valley Police’s road deaths investigation unit, said officers were busy combing through CCTV footage.

He is urging any passers-by that saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area between midnight on Saturday and 6.30am on Sunday, or may have heard anyone talking about the incident, to come forward.

He said: "It appears a person, or persons, have moved a concrete brick from the verge and put it in the centre of the carriageway.

"It could not have rolled or moved without human intervention. It was embedded in the verge to prevent people from parking.

"The block is about 12 inches by 12 inches and probably used to hold a metal post. You would certainly have to lift it with two hands and you wouldn’t be able to move it very far, in this case about eight feet.

"This is very tragic, a man has lost his life. If anyone has any information about this, it doesn’t matter how insignificant, please come forward as it might be vital to our investigation."
