FIREFIGHTERS managed to stop a fire spreading to a block of flats in Stokenchurch last night after a suspected arson attack.
Crews found a caravan ‘fully alight’ in George Road after they were called just after 11pm.
They used two hose reels and two sets of breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze.
Crew manager Luke Brown said: “It was next to a block of five flats and some of the windows on the top floor had cracked due to the heat.
“If someone hadn’t noticed it and called us it would have spread to the roof of the flats within about five minutes.”
He said the derelict caravan had been left on an old building site next to the flats. It was thought the fire was started deliberately.
After making the scene safe the fire crews from High Wycombe and Stokenchurch went into the flats to make sure the residents had smoke alarms.
No injuries were reported.
