HIGH Wycombe's dignitaries will not have their weights read out at this year's Mayor Making ceremony to save 'embarrassment'.
The town's charter trustees formally decided last week that announcing the different weights would be 'embarrassing and unnecessary'.
Though the trustees had previously agreed for the weights to be read out, the town crier will now only shout “some more” or “no more”, depending on whether someone's weight has increased or not.
The traditional ceremony, which has been going since 1678, sees the mayor and other civic dignitaries weighed to see if they have taken advantage of their year in office.
