New food hygiene ratings have been handed out to restaurants, takeaways and cafes in Buckinghamshire.

Inspections by the Food Standards Agency give eateries a score between zero and five, indicating what extent of improvement is needed in food hygiene practices. 

0 – urgent improvement is necessary

1 – major improvement is necessary

2 – improvement is necessary

3 – business is generally satisfactory

4 – business is good on assessment

5 – business is seen as very good

A total of 12 Buckinghamshire establishments have received new food hygiene ratings, according to the Food Standards Agency's website.

Among these eateries, seven restaurants, cafes, and canteens were assessed.

Thrift Farm & The Potting Shed Cafe and Aston's At Wycliffe Park both achieved hygiene ratings of 5 on April 29 and April 24 respectively.

Chaiiwala High Wycombe, Olive Tree High Wycombe and The Maple at De Soutter Medical all also achieved the top rating of 5 on April 24.

San Remo Langley Park Tea Room and Bertrams Cafe at Smiths Garden Centre recorded rating of 5's on April 22 and April 18 respectively.

Pubs, bars, and nightclubs in the region were also evaluated, with five venues receiving their new scores.

Three Horseshoes impressed, earning a 5 rating on May 2, as did the Masonic Hall & Aroma Catering on April 26.

Both the Oak And Saw Village Inn and The Red Lion received a 5 rating on April 24 and April 16 respectively.

The Jolly Farmer was scored a 4 for hygiene on March 28. 

This assessment system, used by the Food Standards Agency, is vital in maintaining high food safety standards across the region, providing consumers with knowledge and reassurance.

The top score of 5 indicates an establishment's food hygiene and safety procedures are rated 'very good', while a 4 score connotes 'good' measures.
