A major road and a section of railway line that was closed after an earlier train fire on a bridge in Bradenham has now reopened with delays.
Two crews from High Wycombe, one from Princes Risborough, one from Marlow and two from Maidenhead attended at 2.13pm along with three officers and used a hose reel, dry powder extinguishers, one hose reel, four sets of breathing apparatus and a short extension ladder to deal with the fire.
The train is on the bridge over the A4010 near Bradenham, and the road was closed, with bus routes 321 and 621 disrupted or delayed and traffic queuing back to the A40 West Wycombe Road.
All train lines were blocked between Princes Risborough and High Wycombe, but the service has now reopened with delays and short notice cancellations expected in the evening peak.
British Transport Police assisted at the scene and all passengers on the affected train were moved to safety with no injuries.
Fraser Pearson, from Bucks Fire and Rescue, said the fire was contained in the engine compartment and was dealt with swiftly by firefighters.
Tickets are currently being accepted on Virgin, CrossCountry and First Great Western trains and as many trains as possible will be diverted via the London, Amersham, Aylesbury and Princes Risborough line.
Engineers from Network Rail are on site to resolve the problem and apologised for the disruption.
