Fears that an escaped coati on the loose around Marlow has been killed could be unfounded, after several more sightings of the furry fugitive.
Irene Meeks got in touch yesterday to say she had seen an animal matching its description lying dead by the side of the road between Booker and Marlow.
The concerned resident said: “Sadly I have noticed a dead animal on the grass verge on the left hand side going down to Marlow.
“I'm not sure what animal it is, but it looks about the same size and the colourings the same as the photos on the bucks free press on line.”
But a flurry of sightings yesterday, including this picture of the rainforest native in a Station Road garden, seem to suggest otherwise.
Jill Hickey said she last saw the escapee – who ran away from Lady McAlpine’s Fawley Hill estate – heading towards the gardens of South place.
Anna Shearer, who first reported the presence of the incongruous creature in town, said the coati has returned to her family’s garden in the Gossmore area and even seemed to follow her father to the pub last night.
And the Shearers have now laid a harmless trap on their property so the RSPCA can retrieve it.
