APPROVAL has been given to build a supported living community in a village near Stokenchurch.
Planning permission was given at Wycombe District Council's planning committee last week for The Wycliffe Centre site in Horsleys Green.
It had been operating for 41 years as a Christian conference centre serving churches, conference guests and Bible translation.
It will now be demolished and 169 units built- 115 supported living, 24 care and 30 dementia care suite units.
There will also be a clubhouse incorporating community facilities and administrative accommodation, tennis courts, allotments, a bowling green and a pitch and putt course.
A number of conditions are attached to the planning permission including an age restriction. There were 17 letters objecting to the application over concerns about traffic and the size of the development in a small village.
There were also 24 letters of support, which said it would make good use of the site.
