THE first motorway service station pub in Britain moved a step closer after a major company applied for an alcohol licence.
Pub chain Wetherspoons has previously confirmed to the Bucks Free Press it is looking to add to the 800-plus watering holes it operates across the country by opening one at Beaconsfield Service Station off junction 2 of the M40.
And the company has this week submitted a licence application to South Bucks District Council to make the plans become a reality.
If given the go-ahead, it would be the country's first pub at a motorway service area.
The council is likely to rule on whether to grant permission for the licence by the end of June.
