The Aylesbury Labour Party will be highlighting the needs of the local area and representation at Government level.
We will ensure that South Bucks NHS Trust and Stoke Mandeville, especially, serves the needs of the community and so residents do not have to travel long distances for critical services. Labour is totally committed to a free NHS and no payments at a time of need.
Crime figures must continue to decrease and residents, particularly the elderly, should feel safe and secure within their homes and outside. Anti Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) should be used more frequently to curb local misdemeanours, where appropriate.
The talents of all pupils should be encouraged, irrespective of their creed, colour, origin, ability or ability to pay for education. Places in training, sixth form or an apprenticeship should be guaranteed for teenagers.
Affordable housing should be available for the majority, particularly key workers. Affordable houses should be built for £60,000 on publicly-owned land.
One of the fundamental pillars for the success of the UK over the last two Labour Governments has been the economy. This has filtered locally to Aylesbury and we have more jobs, nurses, teachers and police.
Since 9/11 the world has become a very different and dangerous environment. As an island we need to maintain our security and autonomy.
We should learn from the USA's lack of preparedness in 9/11.
We need to mend relations with groups and countries that we have provided with a reason for unhappiness.
