SHELBURNE Lodge celebrated ten years of caring for its elderly residents this afternoon, with a star turn from Fern Britton.
Fern, the face of TV's This Morning, went to Shelburne Lodge on Rutland Street, High Wycombe, to unveil a commemorative collage produced by the home's residents, and to cut the cake.
As she unveiled the collage, she said: "What a great atmosphere you have here. Happy birthday Shelburne Lodge!"
Later, she added: "I'm delighted to be here. I have had a relative in a care home, so I know how valuable and important they are."
The collage - an outdoor scene made from flowers, wood, clay, and other materials, was made during art and craft sessions that the lodge runs to keep residents active and allow them to be creative.
After the cutting of the cake, residents, visitors and staff enjoyed an international buffet inspired by recipes from the lodge's staff, who come from all over the world.
